The Problem
Users were expressing a need for a way to easily find events.
“I can’t easily find the event I saw on the app last week”
“Where are my tickets?”
We also had a preference system that wasn’t fully flushed out. Users were able to like, double-like, neutral, dislike, and double-dislike an event. Since we hadn’t built out a recommendation engine to fully utilize all five states of likes, very few users utilized anything other than the single like action.
The Solution
Simplified Favoriting
We determined best path forward was to replace this liking system with a simplified favoriting function that’ll initially serve as a bookmarking tool for events.
My Events View
Bookmarked events will live on the a newly created ‘My Events’ view.
Roadblocks
Originally, Dev was hesitant about removing this liking feature since we already had collected some useful data. These concerns were calmed once we figured out what to do with the existing data and clarified that we want to bring back a robust liking system in a meaningful way.
The Future
We see an opportunity to provide more value to the user with this feature by eventually expanding it to tie in notifications and personalization.
Effected Screens
All Event Blocks now have a favoriting button with only two states.
